Seminar – master class "Intensive"

4 master classes, 1 seminar and 3 musical excursions in Vienna with a private guide! Excursions are included in the course price.

The Vienna Summer Music Academy again welcomes musicians, teachers and students as well as all who are interested in the Viennese musical life. This time the participants of the Vienna Summer music Academy have the unique opportunity to attend several courses in the span of 5 days within the scope of the seminar – master class "Intense", as well as to visit the memorable places of the world´s music capital. "Musical Vienna" will show you the city from its most interesting and unexpected perspectives. The excursion to the Opera theatre and to J. Haydn´s house etc. will allow you to immerse yourself fully into the atmosphere of the music world.

You will get to know the traditions of the musical art of the Music capital; you will listen to Viennese performers, hear rare and inspiring interpretations, be part of a chamber ensemble, and learn to play the “Viennese” way. You will gather new information about the music education institutions in Vienna, Austria and Europe (where classical and jazz music are taught), how to get an audition for the opera or an orchestra, what is needed to apply for music studies etc.

During the seminars "Musical traditions of Vienna: history and practice" you can get answers to frequently asked questions such as: Who was part of the foundations of the Viennese classical school for solo and chamber music? How should Mozart´s music be interpreted and how did the slow movements of his chamber sonatas sound at the beginning of the 20th century? Are there secrets to the performance of the Viennese classics, how to attain the right touch? How do the interpretations of Beethoven´s piano sonatas (which Friedrich Gulda recorded three times) differ from each other?

The seminar "Music education systems in Western Europe" gives an overview of the professional and recreational music education system in Vienna, Austria and Europe. The participants will become acquainted with the founding history of Austrian tertiary institutions and the distinctive features of teaching at the music schools. They will get information about the main regional, national and international competitions and about what is required for participants in those competitions.

The seminar – master class "Piano Technique" introduces an exclusive Italian method of piano technique development. Prof. A. Corongiu is confident that everyone can play with virtuosity. He knows why sometimes playing a lot of etudes and technical exercises doesn´t yield the expected result. Thanks to a special finger exercise set (which doesn´t always have to be performed on the keys!), incredible results can be reached in an intense way.

Vienna is not only a center of academic art, but also of art for one’s own pleasure. As per the established traditions, the Viennese Summer Music Academy offers the participants of the "Intense" course a rather exotic crash course for everyone curious – a course in Ukulele.

And finally, in a rather informal atmosphere, everyone is invited to taste the incredible Viennese “Apple Strudel by Frau Christine”, after helping with its preparation according to the best Viennese recipes.

All participants will receive a certificate of attendance, on which the number of hours and the course subject are indicated.
